Model making supplies

Primarily we produce scale parts for modellers who built miniature fairground rides.

The largest of this range are plastic injection moulded ride components in the 1/50^th scale.

These parts are available exclusively through Kingfisher models.

Parts produced in other scales are only available through KR Design

Just recently we have added to our component range by supplying a selection of modelling materials.

Of course we are not limited to Fairground modelling, with Model Engineering covering such a vast spectrum of activities we are only to happy to discuss your needs with you.

In the past items designed and produced include laser cut frames for model locomotives, spokes for model traction engines. Complete model ic engines.

We have a close working relationship with a few local engineering companies when the job is too big for us to handle or requires specialist machinery such as a laser cutting machine or surface grinding.

Current 1/50th fairground range: Plastic Ballast Boxes Wood Under Development

All parts are designed to be used as dummy loads for Lorries and fairground dioramas as opposed to true scale working models.

Plastic

Plastic moulded components are moulded in high impact polystyrene and can be painted, glued and filled the same as regular plastic moulded kits

Moulded Load

This is the new moulded Dodgem load to suit a Corgi Curtain sider trailer. It is moulded in resin and has the base machined flat. Available only from Kingfisher models

Frame body

This frame body is designed to fit on the Corgi modern tipper chassis. It will fit the Low cab Volvo FM, The DAF and The ERF. It will not fit the higher cab Volvo without raising it up off the chassis, this then restricts the use of the belly boxes.

1/50^th Lights

Moulded in seven colours these miniature lights are 1.5mm in diameter with a 1mm stalk. Just drill a 1mm hole and glue them in place (note lights do not light up) They are moulded in coloured acrylic for that authentic look.

1/50^th scale Paybox for either “swan neck” mounting or free standing. It comes complete with two doors a flat one and an angled one for you to choose the style. Decoration is limited only by your imagination.

1/50^th scale enclosed generator. A 10 piece plastic kit with possibilities beyond the fairground sector.

1/50^th Scale side stall complete with front counter, choice of top boards and vacuum formed top tilt.

Ballast Boxes

Now available after much interest at the Long Eaton Model Show November 2005 these ballast boxes are designed to fit on twin wheel cab units by using a moulded “skirt” that fits over the wheel arches and has recessed areas for you to trim it to fit your particular vehicle. All box kits are supplied UNPAINTED for you to match your own colour scheme

This is the 75mm long Box, designed around the Corgi ERF EC10 chassis. It comes in 6 parts including the Skirt and solid back door. A working roller shutter door is currently undergoing testing and will be available very soon as a separate item. (Note: lorry not included)

The smaller picture shows how the skirt is fitted to the lorry with a section removed for the fifth wheel coupling.

This is the 80mm long ballast Box, It is designed around the Corgi ERF ECS cab but can be used on other units. Again you will need to modify the skirt to suit your particular model.

As a development of the standard box, this cranked version is designed to fit around the Generator kit shown above. The box is only available in the 75mm length size at present. (Note: Generator kit not included)

Foden Alpha

A skirt has been produced to suit the Corgi Foden Alpha because the Wheel centres and widths are different to the above models.

To add further interest to the boxes two separate side panels have also been designed. Both are to suit the 80mm box and are available on there own. The panel on the left has a representative Vented section and the one on the right has the words “Ghost Train” in raised letters both are supplied unpainted. Also available is a moulded “vent” to fix to the end of the generator or the side panel of the ballast box. (no picture)
